Wholesale Stretched Canvas

Gowin manufactures finished blank stretched canvas by combining our artist canvas production with our wooden stretcher bar manufacturing capability. This allows the canvas and wooden frame specifications to be developed together for wholesale and OEM/private-label projects.

Canvas material, weight, priming, wooden frame profile, finished size and stapling method can be coordinated within one project. This makes it easier to develop a stretched canvas specification in which the canvas and frame are considered together before sample approval and bulk production.

Choose the Canvas for Your Stretched Canvas

The canvas affects the surface appearance, finished-product specification and production process of a stretched canvas. Gowin supplies cotton, poly-cotton, polyester and linen artist canvas rolls, allowing the canvas material to be selected together with the required weight, surface and priming specification.

Canvas Option What Can Be Selected
Material Cotton, poly-cotton, polyester and linen
Canvas Weight 280gsm and 380gsm are commonly selected; other specifications can be discussed
Priming Most stretched canvas is supplied with primed canvas; unprimed canvas is also available for specific projects.
Surface / Texture Selection depends on the required finished canvas specification

When confirming the canvas, it is useful to consider the complete finished product rather than material or weight alone. A sample allows the canvas surface, wooden frame and stretching method to be reviewed as one construction.

Wooden Stretcher Frame Options

Gowin manufactures wooden stretcher bars in different profiles and constructions. The frame specification can therefore be coordinated with the selected artist canvas and finished stretched canvas format.

Frame selection should take account of the required profile, finished canvas size, frame structure and stretching requirements. Larger formats may also require an appropriate internal supporting structure. These details should be confirmed from the complete frame specification instead of profile depth alone.

If you are matching an existing stretched canvas product, a frame drawing, complete cross-section dimensions or a physical sample can be provided for review.

Back Stapled or Side Stapled

Back stapling and side stapling are the two main methods available for fixing the canvas to the wooden stretcher frame. The appropriate method depends on the construction and presentation required for the finished product.

Back Stapled

With back stapling, the staples are fixed on the back of the wooden frame. The visible side edges are therefore left without exposed staples, allowing the stretched canvas to be displayed with its edges visible when this presentation is required.

Side Stapled

With side stapling, the staples are fixed along the sides of the stretcher frame. This method can be used when the finished product construction, framing method or presentation permits staples on the side edges.

From Canvas and Wood to Finished Stretched Canvas

Producing a finished stretched canvas requires the canvas and wooden frame specifications to work together. Gowin can coordinate the main product stages within one stretched canvas program:

Artist canvas selection → wooden frame selection and preparation → frame assembly → canvas stretching → stapling → finished-product inspection → packing

Before production, the selected canvas, frame profile, finished dimensions and stapling method are confirmed. For a new specification or an existing product match, a sample can be prepared to confirm the canvas, frame construction, dimensions and stapling method before bulk production.

OEM and Private-Label Stretched Canvas

OEM and private-label stretched canvas programs can include the canvas specification, wooden frame profile, finished dimensions, stretching method, labeling, branding and packing requirements.

For a new project, you can provide:

  • The required canvas material and weight
  • The required priming or surface specification
  • The wooden frame profile or frame drawing
  • The finished stretched canvas dimensions
  • The preferred back-stapled or side-stapled construction
  • Branding, labeling and packing information
  • The estimated order quantity

An existing sample, technical drawing, specification sheet or reference product can also be provided where available. These materials help confirm the product details that need to be included in sample development and quotation.

Stretched Canvas FAQ

What canvas materials are available for stretched canvas?

Gowin’s artist canvas range includes cotton, poly-cotton, polyester and linen options. The appropriate material can be confirmed together with the required weight, surface and finished-product specification.

What canvas weights are commonly used?

280gsm and 380gsm are commonly selected for stretched canvas production, but they are not the only available specifications. Other canvas weights can be discussed for the project.

Can I choose between back stapling and side stapling?

Yes. Both back-stapled and side-stapled constructions are available. Back stapling keeps staples away from the visible side edges, while side stapling fixes the canvas along the sides of the stretcher frame.

Can Gowin make custom stretched canvas sizes?

Standard and customized finished dimensions can be discussed. The canvas specification, wooden frame profile and support requirements should be confirmed together with the requested size.

Can I request a sample before bulk production?

Yes. Samples are available for confirming the canvas, frame construction, finished dimensions, stretching method and other relevant product details before bulk production.
