Heavy Duty Stretcher Bars
Gowin’s current Heavy Duty range includes four outer pine wooden Stretcher Bar profiles: GW3836X, GW3836F, GW3860 and GW5535. The available profiles use 38mm or 55mm thicknesses and 35mm, 36mm or 60mm widths, stated consistently as thickness × width.
These profiles are supplied for B2B stretched-canvas, printed and photo-canvas frames, decorative wall art and wholesale or private-label canvas-frame production when the project specification calls for one of Gowin’s more substantial profile structures. Select the profile from the complete cross-section and finished frame specification rather than thickness alone. Samples are available for profile and assembly confirmation.

The four models below are outer Stretcher Bars used to form the perimeter of the canvas frame. Compare the nominal dimensions and confirmed profile notes first, then review the complete frame specification before selecting a model.

Compare the Four Heavy Duty Profiles
Gowin states Stretcher Bar dimensions as thickness × width. GW3836X and GW3836F are both 38 × 36mm, but their complete machined cross-sections differ. Nominal dimensions alone are therefore not sufficient when matching an existing profile, and neither the X nor F suffix should be treated as a performance rating.
GW3836X, GW3836F and GW3860 all have a 38mm nominal thickness. GW3860 is 60mm wide, while GW3836X and GW3836F are 36mm wide. GW3860 is 38 × 60mm, while GW5535 is 55 × 35mm; GW5535 is thicker and narrower, and GW3860 is shallower in thickness and wider in section.
These are dimensional and geometric comparisons only. The appropriate model still depends on the required cross-section and complete frame specification.
How to Select a Heavy Duty Profile
Thickness alone should not determine the profile choice. Confirm the complete project specification, including:
- Finished frame dimensions
- Required outer-profile depth
- Complete cross-section or profile shape
- Canvas specification or weight
- Stretching tension
- Corner and assembly method
- Internal-support requirement and layout
- Final application
- Packing requirements
When matching an existing product or profile, provide a technical drawing with complete cross-section dimensions or a physical sample. This allows the profile shape and corner requirements to be reviewed before sampling.
Heavy Duty and Deep Profile Are Separate Ranges
Within Gowin’s product range, Standard Wooden Stretcher Bars cover regular canvas-frame production, while Deep Profile Stretcher Bars provide greater visible outer-profile thickness than the Standard range. Heavy Duty Stretcher Bars are the separate family containing GW3836X, GW3836F, GW3860 and GW5535. Greater thickness alone does not define Heavy Duty: GW3835G, for example, is a 38 × 35mm Deep Profile Stretcher Bar.

The Heavy Duty range can be considered when the specified project requires one of its four profile structures. This range is supplied for:

- Larger stretched canvas frame production where the specified profile matches the project
- Commercial interior projects
- Wholesale and private-label canvas-frame programs
- Gallery-wrap canvas where a specified deeper profile such as GW5535 is required
The application alone does not determine the profile. Confirm the required dimensions, complete cross-section, canvas, assembly structure and finished frame specification before production.
Supporting Bars and Internal Frame Structure
Supporting Bars are separate internal components from the outer Heavy Duty Stretcher Bar. As a general starting point, internal support may be evaluated when the long side reaches approximately 60cm, but this is not a mandatory threshold.
Final support requirements depend on the complete frame dimensions, outer Stretcher Bar profile, canvas specification or weight, stretching tension, support layout and final application. Supporting Bar profile selection and Supporting Bar quantity or layout are separate decisions. Depending on the complete frame requirement, a project may use no Supporting Bar, one or more Supporting Bars, parallel supports or a cross-brace arrangement.

Material, Assembly and Production
Pine Wood and Production Checks
The four current Heavy Duty profiles are made from pine wood. The wood is kiln-dried before machining, finger-jointed construction is used where applicable, and the surfaces are smooth-sanded. During production, Gowin checks profile dimensions, straightness, surface sanding, corner fit and packing condition.
Regular pine may include slight sound knots. If your program requires a cleaner appearance or a different wood grade, confirm the requirement before sampling and quotation.
Tenoned and Non-Tenoned Options
Tenoned and non-tenoned structures are available. Tenoned bars use machined corner joints for fitted-corner frame assembly. Non-tenoned bars can be supplied when you have your own tenoning machinery or intend to use direct-nailing assembly. Corner and assembly fit can be confirmed during sampling according to your production requirements.
GW3836X, GW3836F, GW3860 and GW5535 have a maximum listed supply length of up to 300cm. Required bar lengths and quantities should be confirmed for each size.

Custom Heavy Duty Profile Development
Gowin’s current range includes 20 existing Stretcher Bar and Supporting Bar profiles covering many common market requirements, but your project is not limited to these profiles. Gowin can review a special thickness or width, a different cross-section or profile shape, an existing-product match, or another customer-specific profile.
Provide a technical drawing with complete cross-section dimensions or a physical sample for matching. Custom development remains subject to technical feasibility, sample confirmation, MOQ or order requirements and agreed tooling conditions. A new profile may require a mould/tooling charge, which is normally refundable after the agreed formal production order is placed, subject to the agreed order conditions.
