Standard Wooden Stretcher Bars

Pine Wood Bars for Regular Stretched Canvas and Frame Production

Standard wooden stretcher bars are the everyday frame bars used for regular stretched canvas, artist canvas, framed canvas, DIY canvas frames and volume canvas frame production.

Gowin manufactures standard pine wood stretcher bars with kiln-dried, finger-jointed and smooth-sanded production options. During production, we check profile dimensions, corner fit, surface finish, moisture control and packing consistency before shipment.

Gowin supplies standard profile wooden stretcher bars for regular stretched canvas, framed canvas, photo canvas and wall decor production.

If your project needs deeper side display, oversized structure or internal support bars, compare Gallery Wrap Stretcher Bars, Heavy Duty & Large Format Stretcher Bars or Supporting Bars & Bespoke Profiles before confirming the profile.

When Standard Stretcher Bars Are the Right Choice

Standard stretcher bars work best when the finished frame does not need a thick gallery-wrap side profile or heavy-duty structure. In daily production, most customers use them for regular canvas sizes, framed canvas products, DIY canvas frames and art supply wholesale.

Application

Why Standard Bars Fit

Regular stretched canvas

Stable profile, familiar frame structure and practical cost for repeat production.

Artist canvas and art supply wholesale

Easy to stock, easy to explain and suitable for common canvas frame sizes.

DIY canvas frames

No-nail assembly can be adjusted for easier hand assembly when needed.

Photo lab and small wall decor

Works well when the side profile is not the main visual feature.

Framed canvas

A practical internal structure when an outer frame will cover the side appearance.

Standard Profile Size Guide

Standard bars should be selected by canvas size, canvas tension and final use. The following guide keeps the decision simple and leaves deeper profile details to the gallery wrap and heavy duty pages.

Canvas Size / Need

Standard Bar Guidance

Small and regular frames

Standard profiles are usually suitable for regular stretched canvas and artist canvas. For the full product range, see Wooden Stretcher Bars.

Long side about 60cm or more

Start checking whether Supporting Bars & Bespoke Profiles are needed depending on canvas tension and final use.

1.6cm thin profile

Usually better for frames up to about 100cm. For larger frames, Heavy Duty & Large Format Stretcher Bars are safer.

Need thick frameless side display

Move to Gallery Wrap Stretcher Bars instead of using standard bars.

Manufacturing Details Buyers Usually Check

Pine Wood, Finger Joint and Kiln Drying

For standard frame bars, pine wood gives stable supply and longer available lengths for repeat orders. Finger-jointed construction helps shorter pine sections become longer and more consistent bars. Kiln drying helps control moisture before machining and packing.

Unless you have a special requirement, regular pine wood may have slight sound knots. This is normal for pine. We avoid large loose knots, cracks and unstable defects, and stricter appearance requirements should be confirmed before sampling.

Smooth Sanding and Corner Fit

During production, we inspect the surface finish because rough edges can damage canvas during stretching. We also check corner fit so the bars assemble smoothly and hold the frame shape.

Assembly Feel Can Be Adjusted

Some customers prefer a tighter fit because their team assembles frames with a small hammer. Other customers want easier hand assembly for DIY users. We can discuss the assembly feel before sampling so the frame matches your customer group.

Gowin has a YouTube channel. If you cannot visit the factory in person, you can watch the video to see the production and assembly process. (https://www.youtube.com/@Gabriela_Gowin)

Recommended Standard Product Range

The exact SKU should be confirmed by canvas size, target market and packing requirement. For standard stretcher bars, buyers often start from thinner and regular profiles before moving to gallery wrap or heavy duty options.

Sample Testing & OEM

Before bulk production, we check profile size, corner fit, hand feel, surface sanding, packing method and carton marking. If your order includes several sizes, the MOQ may be reviewed based on the whole order, not only a single size.

Standard MOQ is 1000 pcs/size, but it can be less depending on the whole order. For full container orders, pricing can be FOB; otherwise it is usually EXW factory price. Gowin can also support DDP logistics when needed.

OEM options may include:

  • Profile thickness and width confirmation
  • Tighter hammer-assisted assembly or easier hand assembly
  • Tenoned or non-tenoned structure
  • Supporting bar matching for selected sizes
  • Packing, label and carton requirements

FAQ

What are standard wooden stretcher bars used for?

They are used for regular stretched canvas, artist canvas, framed canvas, DIY canvas frames, photo canvas and art supply wholesale.

When should I choose standard bars instead of gallery wrap bars?

Choose standard bars when the side profile is not the main visual feature or when the canvas will be framed. Use gallery wrap bars when the side of the canvas is part of the finished display.

How large can I make a frame with thin standard bars?

For 1.6cm thick thinner stretcher bars, we usually keep them to frames up to about 100cm. For larger frames, a thicker profile or heavy duty option is safer.

When should supporting bars be added?

From about 60cm long side, supporting bars should be considered depending on canvas tension, canvas thickness and final use.

Can standard stretcher bars be assembled without nails?

Yes. Standard stretcher bars can be made for no-nail assembly when the profile and corner structure are matched correctly.

Can the assembly fit be adjusted?

Yes. Some customers want tighter hammer-assisted assembly, while DIY customers often prefer easier hand assembly.

Will pine wood have knots?

Regular pine wood may have slight sound knots unless a stricter appearance grade is requested. Large loose knots, cracks and unstable defects should be avoided.
